Clonium Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last week playing Clonium, and I have to say, it's been a wild ride. I went into it not knowing what to expect, but the sci-fi setting and promise of action-packed gameplay had me intrigued. The game drops you into a world where you're a space explorer, tasked with uncovering the secrets of a mysterious planet called Clonium. The story is pretty standard fare - ancient alien technology, sinister corporations, and a healthy dose of conspiracy. But, to be honest, I wasn't really playing it for the story.

The gameplay is where Clonium really shines. The combat is fast-paced and intense, with a variety of abilities and upgrades to unlock. I loved the feeling of upgrading my gear and taking on tougher and tougher enemies. The game also has a pretty cool crafting system, where you can build your own equipment and customize your playstyle. I spent hours tweaking my loadout and experimenting with different combos. The controls are also super responsive, which is essential for a game that requires quick reflexes. I played it on PC, and I have to say, the keyboard and mouse controls are spot on.

But, as much as I loved the gameplay, there are some definite flaws. The level design, for one, can be a bit repetitive. You'll find yourself fighting the same enemies and navigating the same corridors over and over again. And, while the graphics are generally pretty good, there are some noticeable texture pop-in issues and the occasional framerate dip. It's not game-breaking, but it's definitely noticeable. I also had some issues with the game's UI - sometimes it would take me a few tries to get the menu to register my clicks, which was frustrating.

Despite those flaws, I still had a lot of fun playing Clonium. The game has a certain energy to it, a sense of excitement and discovery that's hard to resist. And, when the combat is clicking, it's some of the most enjoyable I've had in a long time. I also appreciated the game's focus on exploration - there are plenty of hidden secrets and areas to discover, and the game rewards you for taking the time to look around. It's not a perfect game, by any means, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of sci-fi action games.

One thing that's worth noting is the game's length. I beat the main campaign in around 10 hours, which felt a bit short to me. There is some replay value, though - the game has a New Game+ mode, and there are plenty of side quests and challenges to complete. I also heard that the devs are planning to release some DLC in the near future, which could add some extra content to the game. So, while the game may be a bit on the short side, there's still plenty to keep you busy.

Overall, I'd say Clonium is a solid, if not spectacular, game. It's got some flaws, but it's also got a lot of heart and a ton of potential. If you're looking for a fun, action-packed sci-fi game, you could do a lot worse than Clonium. Just be aware of the game's limitations, and you'll have a blast. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what the devs do next - with a bit of polish and refinement, Clonium could be something really special.
