Eventide Review & Gameplay Guide
I just finished playing Eventide and I have to say, it was a pretty wild ride. I've been a fan of hidden object games for a while now, and Eventide is definitely one of the more unique ones I've played. The story is all about this girl who gets transported to a magical world and has to find her way back home, which is pretty standard fare for this type of game. But the twist here is that the world is based on Slavic mythology, which I didn't know much about before playing the game. It was actually really cool to learn about all the different creatures and gods from that mythology.
The gameplay is your standard hidden object fare - you run around, collect items, and use them to solve puzzles. But what really stood out to me was the atmosphere of the game. The graphics are beautiful, with intricate details and animations that really bring the world to life. The music is also great, with a haunting soundtrack that fits the mood of the game perfectly. I found myself getting really immersed in the world, which is exactly what you want from a game like this.
One thing that did bug me a bit was the puzzles. Don't get me wrong, they were challenging and all, but sometimes they felt a bit too obscure. I found myself using the hint system way more often than I would have liked, just because I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. And sometimes the hints weren't even that helpful, which was frustrating. But overall, the puzzles were still pretty fun and rewarding when I finally figured them out.
I also loved the characters in the game. The main girl, Mary, is pretty relatable and likable, and the other characters you meet along the way are all unique and interesting. The voice acting is also top-notch, which really helps bring the characters to life. I especially loved the villain of the game, who is just so over-the-top and dramatic. It's always great to have a good villain to root against, and this guy definitely delivers.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Eventide to fans of hidden object games. It's a beautiful, immersive game with a unique setting and engaging gameplay. Just be prepared for some frustrating puzzles, and you'll be golden. I'm not sure if I would play it again, just because I've already solved all the puzzles and collected all the items. But I would definitely play more games in this series, and I'm curious to see where the story goes from here.
I guess my only real complaint about the game is that it felt a bit on the short side. I finished it in maybe 5 or 6 hours, which isn't a lot of gameplay time. I know some people might be okay with that, but for me, I like to get a bit more bang for my buck. Still, the game is definitely worth playing, and I would recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the genre. Just don't expect it to last you forever, and you'll be fine.
