Fight With Monster Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last week playing Fight With Monster and I've got to say, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for me. The game is basically a mobile take on the popular Yu-Gi-Oh franchise, where you collect and trade monster cards to build decks and battle against other players. I'm a big fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh series, so I was stoked to dive in and see what this game had to offer. The first thing I noticed was how similar the gameplay is to the actual Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game - you've got your monster cards, your spell cards, and your trap cards, all of which can be used to outmaneuver your opponents.

One thing that really stood out to me was the graphics and sound design. The monsters all look really cool, with some pretty slick animations and effects. The sound effects are also top-notch, with some really satisfying sounds for when you summon a monster or activate a spell. The music is also pretty catchy, although it can get a bit repetitive after a while. Overall, the presentation is definitely one of the game's strong points. However, I did notice that the game can be a bit slow to load at times, and the menus can be a bit clunky to navigate.

Now, onto the gameplay. As I mentioned earlier, the gameplay is pretty similar to the actual Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game. You build a deck of 30 cards, and then battle against other players in a best-of-three format. The goal is to reduce your opponent's life points from 8,000 to 0, and you can do this by summoning monsters, activating spells, and setting traps. The game also has a bunch of different modes, including a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode where you can battle against other players online. I had a lot of fun playing through the campaign, but the multiplayer mode was a bit hit-or-miss for me.

One thing that really frustrated me about the game was the microtransactions. Like a lot of mobile games, Fight With Monster has a bunch of in-app purchases that let you buy in-game currency, cards, and other goodies. Now, I'm not opposed to spending a bit of money on a game I enjoy, but some of the prices in this game are just ridiculous. I mean, 10 bucks for a single pack of cards? No thanks. And the worst part is, the game is designed to encourage you to spend money. You'll often find yourself running out of in-game currency, or needing a specific card to complete a deck, and the game will be all like "hey, why not just buy some more currency or cards?" It's a bit sleazy, if you ask me.

Despite my frustrations with the microtransactions, I still had a pretty good time playing Fight With Monster. The gameplay is solid, the graphics and sound design are great, and the campaign mode is a lot of fun. If you're a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh series, or just looking for a new trading card game to play, I'd definitely recommend checking this one out. Just be aware of the microtransactions, and try not to get too sucked in. With a bit of self-control, you can have a lot of fun with this game without breaking the bank.

Overall, I'd say Fight With Monster is a solid game that's worth checking out. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, and the presentation is top-notch. If you're a fan of trading card games, or just looking for something new to play on your phone, I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot. Just be careful not to get too caught up in the microtransactions, and you'll be golden. I'm going to keep playing and see how far I can get, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for this game.
