HUNTMAN Review & Gameplay Guide
I just finished playing through Huntman and I'm still trying to process my thoughts on the game. I went into it not really knowing what to expect, I'd seen some trailers and gameplay videos but they didn't really give me a sense of what the game was all about. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The gameplay is really solid, it's a mix of exploration, puzzle solving, and combat that works really well together.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the atmosphere of the game. The world is really creepy and unsettling, it's got this weird feeling of being abandoned and decayed that really adds to the tension. The sound design is also top notch, the creaks and groans of the old buildings and the howling of the wind really make you feel like you're there. I found myself getting really immersed in the game, I'd be playing for hours and not even realize it.
The story is also pretty interesting, it's not particularly original but it's well told and the characters are all pretty well developed. I liked how the game didn't try to info dump too much on you, it let you piece things together yourself which made it feel more like a discovery. The pacing is also really well done, it's got a good mix of slow burn moments and intense action sequences that kept me on the edge of my seat. My only real complaint with the story is that it feels a bit short, I finished the game in about 10 hours and I was left wanting more.
The combat in Huntman is also worth mentioning, it's not overly complex but it's got a good sense of weight and impact. The guns feel powerful and the melee combat is satisfyingly brutal. I also liked how the game didn't make you feel overpowered, you're always on the back foot and have to be careful not to get overwhelmed. The enemies are also pretty well designed, they're all unique and require different strategies to take down. My only complaint with the combat is that it can get a bit repetitive, there are only so many times you can fight the same type of enemy before it starts to get old.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Huntman to fans of action adventure games. It's got a great atmosphere, solid gameplay, and an interesting story. It's not without its flaws, the game can get a bit repetitive and the story is a bit short, but overall I had a really great time playing it. I'm interested to see what the developers do next, they've shown a lot of promise with Huntman and I'm excited to see how they build on it.
I'm not really sure what the future holds for Huntman, I've heard rumors of DLC and a potential sequel, but for now I'm just happy to have experienced it. If you're looking for a game to play through over the weekend, I'd definitely suggest giving Huntman a shot. It's a great way to spend a few hours and it's a game that will stick with you long after you finish playing it. Just be prepared for a bit of a wild ride, Huntman is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
