Nightfall Horde Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last 10 hours playing Nightfall Horde and I have to say, it's been a wild ride. I picked up this game on a whim, I'd seen some gameplay videos online and it looked like a pretty standard zombie shooter, but there was something about it that caught my attention. The reviews were all pretty positive, so I thought why not, I'll give it a shot. I'm glad I did, because while it's not perfect, Nightfall Horde has some really great moments.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the atmosphere. The game takes place in this dark, post-apocalyptic world that's just been overrun by zombies. The environments are all really well done, from abandoned buildings to creepy forests, it all feels really immersive. The sound design is also top notch, the zombies sound like they're right behind you, even when they're not. It's really easy to get caught up in the world of Nightfall Horde, and I found myself getting really invested in the story. The story's not particularly original, but it's well told and the characters are all pretty well developed.
The gameplay is where Nightfall Horde really shines. The combat is fast paced and intense, and the guns all feel really satisfying to use. I loved the variety of zombies too, from your standard slow moving ones to the faster, more agile ones. They're all really well designed and it's a lot of fun to take them down. The game also has a pretty cool crafting system, where you can craft new items and upgrades for your character. It's not overly complex, but it's a nice touch and it adds a bit of depth to the game. My only real complaint with the gameplay is that it can get a bit repetitive at times. You'll find yourself doing the same missions over and over, and it can start to feel a bit grindy.
Despite the repetition, I had a lot of fun playing Nightfall Horde. The game has a really strong multiplayer component, where you can team up with friends and take on hordes of zombies together. It's a lot of fun, and it adds a whole new level of challenge to the game. The difficulty spikes up pretty quickly when you're playing with a team, and it's a real rush trying to survive against the hordes. I also appreciated that the game has a pretty fair difficulty curve, it starts off easy and gradually gets harder as you progress. It's not too hard, but it's not too easy either, it's just right.
One thing that did bother me was the lack of a strong narrative. While the story is well told, it's not particularly original, and it feels like I've seen it all before. The characters are also a bit one dimensional, and it's hard to really care about what happens to them. I also had some issues with the game's optimization, it would occasionally freeze or stutter, which was a bit frustrating. But overall, these are just minor complaints, and they didn't detract from my overall experience with the game.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Nightfall Horde to fans of zombie shooters. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, and it's a great way to spend a few hours. The atmosphere and gameplay are both top notch, and the multiplayer component is a lot of fun. Just be aware that the game can get a bit repetitive at times, and the story's not particularly original. But if you're looking for a fun, action packed game to play with friends, Nightfall Horde is definitely worth checking out.
