Skate Xmas Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last few days playing Skate Xmas and I've got to say, it's been a wild ride. I'm a huge fan of the Skate series, and when I heard they were putting out a Christmas-themed game, I was a bit skeptical. I mean, how do you take a game that's all about grinding and tricking and make it festive? But, I've got to admit, the devs have done a pretty good job of incorporating the holiday spirit into the game. The first thing you'll notice is the new Christmas-themed levels - they're all decked out in lights and decorations, and there are even snowmen and Santas scattered around to add to the atmosphere.

The gameplay is pretty much what you'd expect from a Skate game - the controls are tight, the graphics are great, and the challenges are tough but fair. But, what really sets Skate Xmas apart is the new holiday-themed challenges and modes. There's a mode where you have to deliver presents to all the good boys and girls, and another where you have to skate through a winter wonderland without hitting any snowmen. It's all pretty silly, but it's also a lot of fun. I found myself laughing out loud a few times as I tried to navigate the courses without wiping out.

One thing that's a bit of a disappointment is the lack of new skaters or equipment. I mean, I know it's a Christmas game and all, but it would have been cool to see some new characters or decks to play with. As it is, you're stuck with the same old skaters and gear from the previous games. It's not a huge deal, but it would have been a nice touch to see some more variety. On the other hand, the new levels are really well-designed, and there are plenty of secrets and hidden areas to discover. I spent hours just exploring the different levels and trying to find all the hidden goodies.

I've also got to give the devs credit for the soundtrack - it's a great mix of holiday classics and modern tunes, and it really adds to the overall atmosphere of the game. I found myself humming along to the music as I played, and it really helped to get me in the holiday spirit. The sound effects are also top-notch - the sound of your board scraping against the pavement, the thud of landing a big jump, it's all really immersive and realistic.

Overall, I'd say that Skate Xmas is a solid addition to the Skate series. It's not going to revolutionize the genre or anything, but it's a fun, lighthearted game that's perfect for the holiday season. If you're a fan of the series, you'll definitely want to check it out - and even if you're not, it's still worth playing just for the sheer fun of it. So, grab a cup of hot cocoa, put on your favorite holiday sweater, and get ready to hit the slopes with Skate Xmas.

I'm not sure how much replay value Skate Xmas has, though - once you've completed all the challenges and found all the hidden goodies, there's not a whole lot left to do. But, for the price, it's definitely worth it. I mean, it's not like you're going to find a better Christmas-themed skateboarding game out there. So, if you're looking for a fun, festive game to play over the holidays, Skate Xmas is definitely the way to go. Just don't expect it to keep you occupied for months on end - it's a fun, casual game that's perfect for playing in short bursts.
