Space Brawlers TDS! Review & Gameplay Guide
So I just finished playing Space Brawlers TDS and I've got to say, it's been a wild ride. I picked this game up on a whim, I'd seen some trailers and gameplay videos online and thought it looked like a lot of fun, and for the most part, it really is. The game's got a great sense of style, the pixel art graphics are top notch and the soundtrack is catchy and energetic. The gameplay's where things get a little more complicated, it's a top down shooter with some rogue-like elements, which sounds great on paper, but in practice it can be a bit hit or miss.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the variety of playable characters, each one's got their own unique abilities and playstyle, which is great because it adds a lot of replay value to the game. I found myself trying out different characters and finding the ones that fit my playstyle the best, it was a lot of fun experimenting and finding the right fit. The game's also got a pretty steep difficulty curve, which can be frustrating at times, but it's also really satisfying when you finally beat a level or defeat a tough boss.
But despite all the things I like about Space Brawlers TDS, there are some issues that hold it back from being a truly great game. For one thing, the levels can feel a bit samey at times, the procedurally generated layouts are a great idea, but they don't always feel like they're generating unique or interesting levels. And sometimes the game can feel a bit too reliant on random chance, I've had times where I've died because of a bad spawn or a poorly timed enemy attack, and it can be frustrating when that happens.
I've also got to say that the game's story is pretty lacking, it's not really a major part of the game, but what's there feels like it was tacked on as an afterthought. I'm not really sure what's going on or why I'm fighting all these aliens, and it's not like it's a big deal or anything, but it would be nice to have a bit more context or motivation for what I'm doing. Despite all this, I've still had a lot of fun playing Space Brawlers TDS, it's a great game to pick up and play for a bit, and the multiplayer mode is a lot of fun with friends.
One thing that's worth noting is that the game's still getting updated and supported by the developers, which is great to see. They're adding new characters, levels, and game modes, and it's clear that they're committed to making the game the best it can be. I've already seen some big improvements since I started playing, and I'm excited to see what they've got planned for the future. If you're a fan of top down shooters or rogue-likes, I'd definitely recommend checking out Space Brawlers TDS, it's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun and has a lot of potential.
Overall, I'd say that Space Brawlers TDS is a solid game that's worth checking out, especially if you're looking for something to play with friends. It's not going to win any awards for originality or storytelling, but it's a fun, challenging game that's sure to provide hours of entertainment. And who knows, with the developers continuing to support and update the game, it's possible that it could become something really special in the future. For now, I'm just happy to have had the chance to play it, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for Space Brawlers TDS.
